A suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden truck inside a Nato and Afghan military base in central Logar province on Tuesday morning, wounding 13 labourers and two Nato soldiers, a local official said.
The incident happened at 10:00 am local time in Pul-e-Alam, the provincial capital, a member of the local government's media office, Miriwais Mirzakwal, said.
"The suicide bomber was in a truck that carried construction materials inside the base," Mr Mirzakwal said.
The wounded were taken to a nearby hospital, he added.
The Taliban said they carried out the attack, and claimed to have killed several Nato soldiers in the blast.
The districts of Pul-e-Alam, Mohammad Agha and Baraki Barack in Logar are considered volatile, with insurgents regularly targeting Afghan and Isaf troops.
