Taliban’s designated deputy governor for Panjshir Province and five fighters of the group were killed in an operation by Afghan forces on Saturday evening, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Sunday.

The operation was carried out in Ahangaran village in Nijrab district of Kapisa Province in which Abdul Ahad, known as Zolfaqar, Taliban’s designated deputy governor for Kapisa’s neighboring Panjshir Province was killed along with his five fighters, the statement said.

Zolfaqar was also a member of Taliban’s so-called military commission, the statement said.

The ministry said that Zolfaqar was involved in subversive activities in Kapisa and its neighboring provinces.

Taliban has not yet commented on the report so far.

This comes as the Taliban’s designated governor for Farah province Mullah Fazl-ur-Rahman was killed in an operation by Afghan forces on Thursday.
