Taliban Attack Police Check Posts in Bamiyan

The Taliban attacked a number of police check posts in central Bamiyan province on Sunday, killing a tribal elder, provincial officials confirmed on Monday.

In addition, four other people were abducted by the Taliban.

The incident took place in Kohmard district of the province after the Taliban attacked the check posts, Mahmoud Sayghani, the district governor confirmed.

“The Taliban released three of the four people that they took with them but one person who is named Mir Ahmad is still in their custody.”

“One Taliban fighter was also killed in the clash and two others were wounded,” Sayghani said, adding that “the Taliban fled into Tala Wa Barfak district of (northern) Baghlan province.”

However, he did not provide further details about the attack.

The Taliban have not yet commented.
