At least three civilians were killed in an explosion in the central province of Kapisa on Friday, provincial police confirmed.

Five others, including two security force members, were wounded in the blast, said Kapisa police spokesman Abdul Shayiq Shorish.

He said the explosion was due to an IED placed at a market in Ala Sai district.

He said the wounded have been taken to hospitals and their health is in good condition. 

Ala Sai district has poor security, and clashes between security forces and the Taliban occur often.
