At least three civilians were killed when insurgents opened fire on people attending prayers at a mosque on Friday night in Paktia province, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement Saturday.
Nine other civilians were wounded in the firing, MoI said.
The shooting occurred at about 08:45 pm local time in Gardiz city of Paktia province, the MoI added.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
