At least three policemen were killed in a gunmen attack in Herat city on Sunday night, provincial police chief Gen. Aminullah Amarkhil said on Monday.

The incident happened on Sunday night after a number of gunmen attacked Herat city’s PD10’s police, Amarkhil said, “two gunmen were killed in the shooting and a number of them were wounded in the clashes.”

“The gunmen escaped from the area, but police have started search operations to find the attackers,” he said.

The incident comes three days after a similar attack in Herat killed three and the gunmen escaped.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
