Three insurgents, including a suicide-attack planner and two suicide bombers, were arrested in Jalalabad city in eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday, local officials confirmed.
The insurgents were arrested in PD3 of Jalalabad city by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) forces. The three were planning to carry out attacks in the city, the provincial governor Gulab Mangal told reporters.
“The bombers wanted to carry out attacks in a crowded area in the city and they came in from across the border,” Mangal said.
In the meantime, local security officials said that two attackers are from Kandahar and Laghman provinces and the attack planner is from Quetta in Pakistan.
“The attackers were arrested in a Corolla car and the first attacker wanted to carry out an attack in a crowded area in the city and the second planned to attack minutes after the first attack while the people gathered at the scene,” according to officials.
“They were arrested by NDS forces after driving out of a parking area in PD3 of Jalalabad city,” officials said.
