Three US Service Members Killed In Bagram

Three US service members were killed and three others were wounded by an improvised explosive device near Bagram Airbase on Monday, April 8, the Resolute Support confirmed in a statement.

The wounded service members were evacuated and are receiving medical care, the statement said.

In accordance with US Department of Defense policy, the name of the service members killed in action are being withheld until 24 hours after notification of next of kin is complete, the statement added.

The explosion happened at around 5:30pm on Monday, according to Bagram district governor Abdul Shakoor Qudoosi.

Qudoosi claimed that the attack was carried out by an explosive-laden vehicle.

Taliban in a statement claimed responsibility of the attack and said the “suicide attacker destroyed two tanks and killed over 10 US military servicemen”.

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a tweet condemned the attack and called it “disgusting terrorist act”.

“US service members have sacrificed their lives in Afghanistan to keep us safe and no cowardly act of terror will impede our efforts to achieve peace,” he said.
