The ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Kabul, Juma Mohammed Abdullah al-Kaabi, died on Wednesday of wounds sustained in a bomb blast in Kandahar province last month, the UAE Foreign Ministry reported.
Five Emirati aid workers also died in the attack last month.
"With great sadness and sorrow, we mourn the martyr of the nation and his duty, the righteous son Juma Mohammed Abdullah al-Kaabi, who gave his pure soul for the sake of humanity," the ministry said in a statement quoted by official news agency WAM.
The blast occurred inside the Kandahar governor's high-security guest house where the UAE diplomats, including Ambassador Juma Mohammed Abdullah al-Kaabi, gathered for dinner.
