Abdul Rahim Azimi, head of a primary court in Injil district in Herat province, was killed in an attack by unknown armed men in the district on Monday evening, Herat governor’s spokesman Jailani Farhad said.
The incident happened on Monday evening in Shaidaee village of Injil, where Azimi faced an ambush by unidentified gunmen, according to Farhad.
Herat police chief Gen. Aminullah Amarkhail said Azimi faced security threats and that he traveled to a “vulnerable” place without coordinating with security forces.
No group including the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
