Dur Mohammad Kishmi, an Afghan folk singer, died of heart disease aged 86 in Takhar province, his family confirmed.
He was born in 1934 in Kishm district, Badakhshan province. He started singing folk songs in Badakhshan in 1951.
Kishmi was famous within and outside the country. He performed concerns in various countries, including Spain, Germany, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
His death is a big loss to the folk music in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Information and Culture said in a statement.
