Noor Mohammad Saqib: Maulana a Proud Figure of Our Country

The Academy of Sciences held a ceremony in Kabul to discuss the status of Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi (Rumi) in the realm of Islamic literature and culture.

Noor Mohammad Saqib, the acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs, said at the event that the name and position of Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi in the realm of Islamic literature and culture are commendable.

Saqib highlighted the importance of honoring the works and activities of Maulana of Balkh and added that he has made significant contributions to the expansion of Islamic culture and sciences, leaving behind valuable works.

The acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs said: "He has rendered great services; he has served in the teaching of sciences and the Quran and has contributed to Hadith and Sharia. He holds a significant position in esoteric sciences and has also made great contributions to Sufism."

Saqib stressed that recognizing the works and activities of Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi is crucial for raising awareness among the youth about the country's historical pride.

The acting Minister added: "Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi, who later became known as Maulana Rumi, is a great figure of our beloved country, Afghanistan, and a proud figure of our nation."

Fareeduddin Mahmood, the President of the Academy of Sciences, said at the event: "Maulana was a great personality, and the whole world has acknowledged his greatness."

Qudratullah Jamal, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture, and Muhibullah Wasiq, the head of the acting Foreign Minister’s office also highlighted the importance of honoring the activities of Maulana and other historical figures of the country.

Jamal said: "We must be aware of Afghanistan's history so that the new generation does not think that Afghanistan is a country without knowledge and distinguished figures."

Muhibullah Wasiq, the head of the acting Foreign Minister’s office, said: "Given the fundamental principles in the teachings of Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi and Afghanistan's historical role in the dynamism of Islamic culture and civilization, it is our duty to provide the ground for a peaceful, progressive, and just world by introducing these values globally."

Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi was born in 604 AH in Balkh. His father, Maulana Muhammad bin al-Husayn al-Khatibi, known as Sultan-ul-Ulama, was one of the great figures of Balkh.

The "Masnavi Ma'navi" and "Divan-e Shams-e Tabrizi" are considered among the most famous works of Maulana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi.
