A number of cultural figures and residents of Sar-e Pol are calling for the completion of the remaining restoration work on the historic Imam Yahya Shrine in the province.
According to them, this historic site is 1,200 years old and attracts thousands of domestic visitors and foreign tourists each year.
Ali Sher Entezar Jowzjani, a cultural activist, stated: "More attention should be given to the restoration and renovation of this shrine, as it holds significant historical and touristic importance."
Abdul Saboor Ataee, a resident of Sar-e Pol, also said: "Our request to the Islamic Emirate and international organizations is to assist in the restoration of this shrine."
Meanwhile, the Sar-e Pol Directorate of Information and Culture says that 70% of the restoration work on this historic shrine has been completed and the remaining work will resume in the near future.
Abdul Ghafar Haqnama, the head of the Sar-e Pol Directorate of Information and Culture, said: "Thousands of tourists visit the Imam Khord Shrine, commonly known as the Imam Yahya Shrine, every year. So far, seventy percent of the restoration work has been completed, and we have proposed to the ministry to resume the remaining work as well."
According to local officials in Sar-e Pol, more than 200 historic monuments have been registered with the local administration, but only 44 of them have been officially documented by the Ministry of Information and Culture.
