India Selects Newton As Official Entry For Next Year’s Oscars

India’s award-winning actor Rajkummar Roa’s latest release Newton has been officially selected as India’s official entry for next year’s Oscars.

Newton, a Hindi film set against the backdrop of Indian elections was Friday chosen the entry for the Best Foreign Language Film for the 2018 Oscars.

Accrdong to the Times of India, the film, directed by Amit V. Masurkar, was chosen from 26 movies.

The film revolves around a young government clerk who is sent on election duty to a Maoist-controlled town and how the ideological struggle puts him in an awkward situation. It was shot in Chhattisgarh.
