An exhibition was opened at Afghanistan’s National Museum on Saturday to display documents and belongings to King Amanullah and his efforts for the country’s independence.

“This exhibition shows documents King Amanullah’s views about the people, women’s rights and the country’s development,” Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi said at a ceremony on inauguration of the exhibition on Saturday.

The exhibition, which will continue for one month will be open for the people after August 19.

“We have organized this exhibition and it is open for a month and anyone can visit it,” the head of National Museum Mohammad Fahim Rahimi.

Afghanistan’s Independence Day is celebrated on August 19 every year. Although Afghanistan was never part of the British Empire, it gained its independence from Britain after the signing of the Anglo-Afghan Treaty in 1919 – a treaty that granted complete neutral relations between Afghanistan and Britain.
