Pylon Destroyed, 50% of Herat Without Power

The Taliban on Wednesday destroyed an electricity pylon that brings power to Herat province, the office of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) in Herat said in a statement. 

The incident happened in Kalat-e-Ghazi village in Ghoryan district on Wednesday night. The Taliban destroyed a pylon that imports electricity from Iran to Herat, the report said.

50 percent of Herat’s people don’t have electricity, according to the statement.  

“When there is no longer a Taliban threat in the area and the security forces are deployed, the engineers will go to the area to re-connect the electricity,” the statement said. 

The local officials said that the Taliban has previously destroyed these major electricity pylons. 

However, the Taliban has not commented on the incident.
