Hundreds of vehicles loaded with goods crossed Torkham pass on Monday after it was closed by Pakistan the day before, Reuters reported on Tuesday. 

"The vehicles that arrived here last night were stranded for the last three, four days. When the gate opened yesterday, a lot of vehicles arrived here and trade boomed,” said Hazrat Omar, a trader. 

Pakistan closed the Torkham pass on Sunday as the Afghan side came under Taliban control. 

The Torkham pass was reopened for bilateral trade with Afghanistan later on Sunday. 

Zahidulla Shinwari, director of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce And Industry, said they wanted peace and stability for trade irrespective of which government rules Afghanistan. 

Taliban insurgents took control of the presidential palace in Kabul as US-led forces departed and Western nations scrambled on Monday to evacuate their citizens.
