Central Bank Says Agreement Reached on Printing Banknotes

The Central Bank said agreements have been reached with various institutions and countries for the printing of Afghani banknotes.  

Lotfullah Noor Pesarlay, senior advisor of the Central Bank Policy Department, said that technical discussions have been carried out.  

“Agreements have been reached over printing the banknotes between the department and countries. According to our plan, we expect it to be implemented and we will share the result with all of you Insh Allah,” said Lotfullah Noor Pesarlay, senior advisor of the Central Bank Policy Department.  

According to officials of the bank, the banknotes will be supplied to the market according to capacity and national interests.  

Meanwhile, the Central Bank announced that 130 money changers have been issued company licenses according to the bank policy.   

“There is complete transparency about who this money is from and where it will be sent and for what reason it has been taken, it will benefit our nation and the system with tax revenue,” said Lotfullah Noor Pesarlay, senior advisor of Central Bank Policy Department.  

Meanwhile Abdul Qaher Edris, the acting head of the Central Bank, said that they are properly managing the banknotes problem.  

The acting head of the Central Bank added that the bank has taken good steps to prevent the smuggling of dollars, fighting against money laundering and mechanizing the activities of money changers and banking service providers.  

The Afghanistan Central Bank officials said that the decrease of aid from the international community has had negative effects on country's gross domestic product, as have droughts and floods.
