Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs, acknowledged there is poverty in the country, and he asked his compatriots for patience.

Abdul Ghani Baradar attended a meeting to attract investors on Thursday, which some high-ranking members of the government also attended, and he said they are trying to address the economic challenges in the country, and businessmen and investors are the solution to decreased poverty.

According to Baradar, the Islamic Emirate has provided the necessary facilities for businessmen to return to the country and invest.

"There are reports of poverty in some places. The existence of poverty is a reality. We ask our countrymen to be patient against poverty,” said Abdul Ghani Baradar, acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan for Economic Affairs.

The Ministry of Water and Energy said that this ministry has some plans for the water management and energy production sector.

"Our strategic goal in the water and energy sector is to rebuild 110 dams which cost billions of dollars that will irrigate millions of acres of land. Billions of cubic meters of water will be stored and thousands of megawatts of electricity will be produced,” said Abdul Latif Mansoor, acting minister of Energy and Water.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum announced a plan they claim will produce 1,700 megawatts of electricity from coal.

“We proposed the plan of 1,700 megawatts of electricity to be produced from coal to the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate,” said Shahabden Delawer, minister of Mines and Petroleum.

The Ministry of Commerce & Industry announced preparations for new investments, saying that the private sector is ready to invest $200 million in the energy production sector.

“Afghanistan has the ability to produce 70,000 megawatts of electricity and we produce it from water and for this we have more sources,” said Noorullden Azizi, acting minister of Commerce & Industry.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry signed an agreement with a Chinese company to produce electricity.
