The Islamic Emirate signed a ten-year contract with the UAE’s GAAC company to provide air service.

The income for the first five years from the air service will go to GAAC, according to the contract.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, first Deputy Prime Minister, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar said the contract will help the country’s economy and trade.

“Today, there is a contract for guiding airplanes in Afghanistan airspace with the UAE’s GAAC company,” Baradar said.

The acting Minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation, Hamidullah Akhundzada, said the contract is for a period of ten years.

Speaking at the ceremony, a GAAC official, Ibrahim Moarafi, said that the contract will also provide training for the Afghan workers.

“We also believe this is a significant development as it will bring economic benefits in terms of job creation, not only within the aviation sector but also the wider economy of Afghanistan,” Moarafi said.

The Deputy Minister of Transportation and Civil Aviation, Ghulam Jailani Wafa, said that GAAC will be responsible for controlling all airplanes crossing Afghan airspace.

“The first round is five years or maybe less than that, the GAAC company will collect the income which is made from the air space because it is doing the investment—until the total loan is finished,” he said.

Earlier, Afghanistan signed a contract for Aviation Security Services for four Afghan airports with GAAC.
