New Factory in Kabul to Fumigate Produce for Export

A factory providing the fumigation of produce was inaugurated on Tuesday in Kabul and is expected to alleviate existing problems in agriculture facing the country. Fumigation of produce is needed for export.

The head of the factory, Mujeebullah Momand, said that $1 million was invested in the factory and that the company will pave the way for the certification of exports of agriculture products.

“Previously, our businessmen were conducting the fumigation process of their products outside the country and were paying high prices, but now, fortunately, they can fumigate their products inside the country with better quality and lower cost,” he said.

The Afghanistan Chamber Commerce and Investment commented on the importance of exporting produce.

“I hope that the ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MoAIL) and the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Commerce and Industry cooperate with us in promoting cotton and its export,” said Mohammad Younus Momand, the acting head of the ACCI.

“Our big problem was the lack of such a center, and that we couldn’t fumigate our products, but now we will have exports with a certificate,” said Sakhi Ahmad Payman, deputy head of the ACIM.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock said that they have increased efforts to modernize the agriculture system in Afghanistan.

“All of us have accelerated efforts to make progress and development in the agriculture, commerce and industrial sectors,” said Mawlwi Ataullah Omari, acting Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock.
