Trade Show Scores $17 Million in Contracts for Afghan Merchants: ACCI

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) said that Afghan traders made $17 million in contracts over the seven-day Imam Abo Hanifa exhibition.

According to officials in the ACCI, the number of visitors exceeded 120,000, and foreigners attended.

“We have had visitors from the neighboring and regional countries Iran, Pakistan and Turkey. They were present in the exhibition over the past seven days,” said Shafiqullah Atai, a member of the ACCI.

Entrepreneurs from Pakistan, Iran and Turkey made trade agreements for Afghan domestic products during this exhibition.

Meanwhile, companies and entrepreneurs at the exhibit sold 35 million Afs worth of domestic products.

“We have problems with the transaction of money abroad. I hope the private banks pay attention to this,” said Mohammad Younus Momand, head of the ACCI.

“I recommend that the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment designates this center (hall) a national exhibition place. Anyone who wants to hold an exhibition should come use this hall,” said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI.

Some of the participants said that there should be an exhibition of Afghan products outside the country as well.

“The number of visitors was high. Thousands of visitors came. We have had more than 680 buyers," said Enayatullah Yousufzai, head of a construction company.

“The exhibition is one of the main methods for business development and trade,” said Abid Sarwari, head of a steel company.

More than 700 companies attended the exhibition.
