Market Established for Businesswomen in Mazar-e- Sharif

Local Officials in Balkh said that a market has been opened just for businesswomen.

Municipality officials in Mazar-e- Sharif said that this market has nearly 200 shops and all shopkeepers are women.

"In this market we have 200 shops and women have activities in here," said Naqeebullah, mayor of Mazar-e-Sharif.

Meanwhile, officials of the Vice and Virtue Ministry said that the Islamic Emirate is committed to providing work facilities for women.

"There was some propaganda that the Islamic Emirate is against businesswomen, but after the Islamic Emirate came, they showed the world they are not against them," said Nasrullah Hotak, spokesman for Vice and Virtue department in Balkh.

Businesswomen welcomed the creation of this market and asked the Islamic Emirate to support women more.

"We are happy for this market and in here just women are allowed," said Pashtana, a businesswoman.

"The rent of this shop was so high and now the municipality announced rent at 400$," said Sara, a businesswoman.

Local officials in Balkh pledged they will create another market for women and will provide work for 400 women.
