Azizi Urges Regional Countries to Work with Afghanistan

The acting minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, urged regional countries to cooperate with Afghanistan in trade by reducing the cost of transport.

Azizi is visiting Russia to attend the 14th Russian Islamic World "Kazanforum."

The acting minister held several meetings with delegations of regional countries on the sidelines of the Kazanforum, according to the MoIC.

“In the meeting with the Turkmenistan Minister of Railway Transport, the discussion focused on facilitating transit for imports to Afghanistan. The Turkmenistan Minister of Railway Transport proposed the establishment of a two-sided committee to discuss the issue,” said Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, a spokesman for the MoIC.

The Islamic Emirate’s spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that the presence of Afghanistan at such a meeting is important.

“Contacts, meetings and visits with the countries, particularly in economic affairs, can also help regional countries and Afghanistan. We want Afghanistan to have an economic centric policy,” Mujahid said.

This comes as the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) said that Afghanistan brings the majority of its heating materials from the Central Asian countries.

“We import commodities from Russia. It should pass through Kazakhstan’s territory and we should pay prices there as well and then again when it crosses the territory of Uzbekistan. It is the same for both exports and imports,” said Khanjan Alokozai, a member of the ACCI.

Azizi and his accompanying delegation traveled to Russia three days ago to attend the 14th Russian Islamic World Kazanforum.
