Ministry: Afghan Banks on World’s 'White List'

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) said at an event titled “Government Accountability Program for the Nation" that Afghan banks are on the world's white list and there are no restrictions on money transfers.

Nooruddin Azizi, the acting minister of industry and commerce, said that this year the ministry issued work licenses to more than 7,000 people in the country.

He added that around 1,000 women have received work permits since the Islamic Emirate came to power.

"We distributed 7,263 new licenses this year, and for keeping the women's sector active, we distributed almost 1,000 licenses only to women," Azizi noted.

Ministry officials further said that they are working to attract more foreign investment in the nation, and currently domestic companies have invested $150 million in the country.

"$150 million has been invested in Afghanistan in a variety of sectors, and we also agreed to invest in mining and agriculture, and 80% of its work has been completed," said Sebghatullah Akhundzada, director of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's Investment and Development Division.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce noted that in order to boost domestic production, the ministry has established 50 new factories in the last year, and in the previous two years it reopened 80% of inactive factories.

Nooruddin Azizi, the acting minister of industry and commerce, added that they have established the ports committee to prevent dollar smuggling and the draining of capital, and the mechanization of ports is also one of the priorities of the ministry.
