Delegation of Afghan Businesspeople To Visit Japan in Near Future: ACCI

A delegation of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) and traders is expected to travel to Japan, said the acting head of the ACCI, Mohammad Younus Momand.

Momand said that in the meeting with the Japanese ambassador Takashi Okada the issues related to economic and trade expansion between Japan and Afghanistan were discussed.

“We have daily imports of car parts from Japan in between 100 to 150 containers,” he said.

This comes as traders called for the challenges posed ahead of trade between Afghanistan and Japan to be solved.

“There are problems with visas and there should be facilities for traders to make contracts between Japanese companies and Afghanistan, so that we can import and export more products,” said Omid Haidari, a trader.

Economists said that Japan is a good partner of Afghanistan in trade and economic issues and that it can improve the Afghan economy via investment in Afghanistan.

“The Japanese may invest in agriculture and water management sectors. Then, we can provide the grounds for job opportunities for the people,” said Abdul Naseer Rishtia, an economist.

According to the ACCI, Afghanistan’s annual trade rate with Japan has reached more than $100 million.
