The president of the Afghan American Chamber of Commerce, Jeff Grieco, regarding the recent visit to Kabul of a delegation comprised of Afghan and American traders, said online: “Taliban surprise US and UAE delegation” with "open commitment to market-led, pro-growth economic system with large role for Afghan traders and economic growth agenda tied to private sector-led development."

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate said that the visit of the delegation to Afghanistan was crucial and that it wants to have economic relations with foreign countries.

“We hope the traders improve good economic engagement among the countries. We want good economic relations with the world," said Zabiullah Mujahid, Islamic Emirate's Spokesman.

“There have been some actions which have been taken by the Islamic Emirate such as collection of revenue, reduction of corruption and increase of exports, but on the other hand, poverty has risen,” said Seyar Qureshi, an economist.

Grieco said that the “Taliban leaders demonstrate they have learned lessons since 1990s and make rapid commitments to implement their own economic development model.”

“Taliban leaders reject the US/UN development model of last 20 years in private talks,” he said. “They note there was some areas of progress in past but say they will soon publish their own economic plan, a five-year strategy developed in strategic cooperation between new Emirate of Afghanistan government and Afghan private sector.”

"Many components of this plan have already begun with massive infrastructure projects (self funded) which are focused on improving agricultural production and expanding regional trade," he said.
