Three Road Projects in Kabul Inaugurated: Kabul Municipality

Three road construction projects worth nearly one billion Afghanis were launched by the Kabul Municipality in three areas of the capital.

According to Kabul Municipality officials, these projects include the construction of the second part of Kotal-e Khair Khana Road, Qasaba to Shahid Square Road, and Airport Square to Gumrak Road, which are expected to be completed within the next two years.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Deputy Economic Minister, said: “The situation is not like it used to be, it has changed in every aspect since we came after the victory. This is a collaboration with our nation, and the people must work shoulder to shoulder with the officials.”

The Kabul Municipality provided details on these projects: “The construction of the second part of Kotal Road, 2.5 kilometers long and 60 meters wide, valued at 364 million afghani, will be completed in 20 months. The construction project from Qasaba to Shahid Square road of 40 meters wide and 1.9 kilometers long, valued at 175.5 million afghani, will be completed in 12 months. The construction of the road from Airport Square to Gumrok, 2.8 kilometers long and 60 meters wide, valued at 407 million afghani, will be completed in 20 months.”

Some residents of Kabul said such projects are beneficial for the beautification of the city and for reducing traffic congestion.

Mohammad Saber, a citizen of Kabul, said: “People eagerly bought homes here, but because the traffic congestion was so severe, they couldn't reach their government and private duties and sold their homes again.”

Abdul Karim, a resident of Kabul, said: “People from about 13 provinces are pleased with the construction of this road; people from 13 provinces use the Kabul-Parwan road, which had many problems before.”

Another resident of Kabul, Abdul Qadir, said: “Pressure must be applied to finish the work as soon as possible; the sooner, the better.”

The Kabul Municipality has reported that in the current solar year, it will implement 165 road construction projects, canal constructions, and the creation of green spaces valued at 6.4 billion afghani.
