Afghan Trucks Enter Pakistan via Dand Patan with Temporary Permits

The Afghanistan-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce criticized the slow distribution of the newly enstated permits and stated that more facilitation should be provided for drivers in obtaining these permits.

Khanjan Alokozay, head of the Joint Chamber, said: “Our first shipment has passed through Dand Patan towards Pakistan. We hope this process becomes simpler so that the problems of our traders are resolved. However, because many trucks are going, the process is very slow.”

Meanwhile, some traders say they face various challenges in trading with Pakistan and emphasize the implementation of the Afghanistan–Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement (APTTA).

Zalmai Azimi, a trader, told TOLOnews: “The Pakistani side has not mentioned in the contract that cleaners and drivers must have visas. Therefore, I request that both sides exchange tokens at crossings such as Torkham, Spin Boldak, and Ghulam Khan to facilitate proper trade.”

Mohammad Nabi Afghan, an economist, told TOLOnews: “We need to have an agreement with them because most of the time, the ports are closed for various reasons, and our traders suffer losses.”

According to the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, due to the closure of crossings to Afghan freight trucks in the year 1402, Afghanistan’s trade with this country significantly decreased.
