Communications Ministry Issues Postal Licenses to 3 More Companies

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology issued postal service licenses to three domestic companies.

Najibullah Haqqani, the acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, said that these companies will start their activities with an initial investment of 68 million Afs, which will also create job opportunities for a number of citizens.

Currently, 12 companies provide postal services in the country.

In a meeting with journalists, Najibullah Haqqani said: "Now we have different companies in the postal sector in the country; now with the issuance of these licenses, the number of companies will reach fifteen."

Haqqani requested all postal service companies provide services according to global standards and prevent the smuggling of drugs.

The acting Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology said: "The services provided by these companies must be standardized, comply with global principles, and ensure that their services are free from any kind of drug trafficking."

MOAM Company, which has invested about 40 million afghani in three postal service sectors, plans to invest 140 million afghani providing direct and indirect job opportunities for more than 1,300 people.

Mohammad Ishaq Takal, the CEO of MOAM, said that they will provide postal services in 34 provinces of Afghanistan and in regional and global countries. He added: "We want to invest in three phases, in the first phase forty million, and then continue to invest 140 million over three years."

Zekrullah Popal, the CEO of Akramzada Company, said: "Our plan is to create job opportunities for 500 people in the first year, and we have extensive plans to provide these services at the national and international levels."

Earlier, Afghan Post officials said that they are striving to standardize postal services in the country. Officials of this company had estimated the gross revenue of this company to be around one billion afghani.
