A three-day exhibition of Afghanistan's domestic products opened today (Wednesday, July 3) in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
Nooruddin Azizi, the acting Minister of Industry and Commerce, emphasized the strengthening and development of commercial and transit relations between Kabul and Tashkent during the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
The acting Minister of Industry and Commerce said: "As two neighboring countries, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have had good and long standing relations throughout history, based on which the Islamic Emirate is committed to maintaining and strengthening it, and will strive to expand constructive relations between the two friendly and brotherly countries."
Azizi spoke about the emergence of special facilities in the investment sector in Afghanistan and asked Uzbek businessmen to invest in various sectors of Afghanistan.
He added: "Certainly, this visit will lead to the further growth and development of bilateral and regional relations in various fields, including industry, trade, transit, investment, and even cultural and social areas between Afghanistan and the friendly country of Uzbekistan."
Mohammad Nazeem Samoon, head of the TAPI project at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, said: "The Haji Alam iron mine in Kandahar province has an estimated reserve of four million tons with an iron content of 60%. The Siya Dara iron mine in Bamyan province and the Pashtun Zarghun iron area in Herat province, therefore, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Afghanistan invites Uzbek investors to invest in these iron mines."
Meanwhile, some Afghan industrialists and businessmen have considered holding such exhibitions important for marketing Afghanistan's products.
Noor Ahmad Noori, the head of the Afghanistan Carpet Union, told TOLOnews: "Uzbekistan is a progressive country and can become a good market for all products and productions of Afghanistan."
In this exhibition, 250 businessmen and industrialists have showcased their products in various sectors to access the Uzbek markets.
On the sidelines of the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan Business Forum and the domestic products exhibition in Tashkent, the acting Minister of Industry and Commerce held separate talks with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, discussing major bilateral and regional projects, increasing trade volume between the two countries, providing more transit facilities through railways and roads, and attracting Uzbek investments in various sectors, including Afghanistan's mines.
