Din Mohammad Hanif, the Acting Minister of Economy, in a meeting with Mirdef Alqashouti, the Counselor of the Qatari Embassy for Afghanistan, stressed expanding economic and commercial relations with Qatar.
Abdul Rahman Habib, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy, said that the Counselor of the Qatari Embassy pledged continued humanitarian aid and the expansion of economic, trade, and investment cooperation in infrastructure and development sectors to the Ministry of Economy.
The spokesperson said: "The Acting Minister of Economy, during a meeting with the Counselor of the Qatari Embassy in Kabul, sought to expand economic and trade relations with that country. The Counselor of the Qatari Embassy pledged continued humanitarian aid and the expansion of economic, trade, and investment cooperation under the leadership of the Ministry of Economy."
Meanwhile, the Counselor of the Qatari Embassy, in meetings with the Acting Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, discussed a memorandum of understanding between Afghanistan and Qatar regarding aviation services. He also met with the Acting Minister of Energy and Water to discuss private sector investment in water and energy projects in Afghanistan.
Experts consider Qatar's cooperation in the aviation sector and investment in Afghanistan as impactful on the country's economic growth.
"If we provide investment opportunities and economic opportunities in Afghanistan, naturally, the presence of these countries in Afghanistan can benefit the country's economy," said Shakir Yaqubi, an economic analyst.
"If we have good relations with Qatar or other Arab countries, they can invest in various sectors here in the future, as Arabs have made significant investments wherever they have gone," said Shams Rahman Ahmadzai, another economic analyst.
Earlier, Mirdef Alqashouti, the Counselor of the Qatari Embassy in Kabul, had met with the Political Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, the Acting Minister of Interior, the First Deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and the Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan to highlight strengthening trade relations between Kabul and Doha.
