Amu Darya Basin Oil Extraction Rises with 25 New Wells

The Economic Deputy Office of the Prime Minister said that with the activation of 25 new oil wells in the Amu Darya oil field, the daily oil extraction in this area will reach 3,000 tons.

Hamdullah Fitrat, the Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, added that currently there are 24 active wells in this field, from which 1,300 tons of oil are extracted daily.

According to Fitrat, the extracted oil is processed within the country.

Fitrat explained: "At present, we have 24 active wells that extract about 13.5 tons of oil. The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum plans to activate 25 more wells by the end of this year, of which 18 will be newly drilled, 2 will be exploratory wells, and 5 will be rehabilitated."

Meanwhile, some economic experts emphasize that officials must carry out ther drilling of new wells based on a precise and measured plan and attract investors for the processing of extracted oil.

Abdul Zahoor Madaber, an economic expert, said: "Afghanistan is potentially rich in natural resources, but unfortunately we do not have modern machinery to process these resources. There is a need to cooperate with other countries for the import of processing equipment."

Mohammad Asif Stanekzai, another economic expert, added: "The production and processing of natural resources can create job opportunities and have a positive impact on reducing inflation in Afghanistan."

According to statistics from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, currently, only 10 percent of Afghanistan's oil needs are met from domestic sources.
