Iran Airtour Airline has begun flights to Afghanistan for the first time.
Iran Airtour Begins Direct Flights to Afghanistan Iran Airtour has been operational for over fifty years and is scheduled to operate two weekly flights from two cities in Iran to Kabul.
Mohammad Reza Saberi, the Iran Airtour official, said: "The presence of Iran Airtour planes in Afghanistan today is the result of two and a half years of effort that we have undertaken."
Officials from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the director of Kabul Airport have said that they are working to provide all facilities at Kabul Airport for international flights.
Ghulam Jelani Wafa, Senior Advisor to the Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation (MTCA), told TOLOnews, "We are fully prepared to meet the conditions and standards of international airport services and to serve them. We aim to consistently operate in line with the principles of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and international standards."
Abdul Hadi Mohammad, the director of Kabul Airport, said: "We assure you that we will make every effort to ensure flights are conducted securely and safely. This is the tenth airline operating flights from Kabul Airport."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has also pledged that Afghanistan’s airspace is currently secure for flights.
Abdul Matin Qane, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, said, "We assure from this platform that Afghanistan’s airspace is now secure for flights. The security provided is unprecedented in recent decades, which is why international airlines are operating flights from Afghanistan today."
This comes as, over the past year, international airlines including Turkish Airlines, Air Arabia, and Fly Dubai have also resumed flights to Afghanistan.
