The Northern Coal Company, in collaboration with Kabul Municipality and under the supervision of the General Directorate of governmental companies, has started distributing coal at prices lower than the market rate in Kabul.
The head of the governmental companies has stated that the aim of this initiative is to support those in need and emphasized that the distribution will also extend to neighboring provinces.
“The Directorate of Emirate Companies has decided that this year, through the Northern Coal Company, quality coal will be provided to citizens at an affordable price. Our goal is to facilitate life for the citizens of the country with the arrival of the cold season,” said Ahmad Jan Bilal, the acting head of governmental companies.
“This initiative helps those in need. It is located near the main road, and as you can see, anyone in need of coal can access it transparently and with confidence, whether they are a housewife, a child, or a young person,” said Noorulhadi Noori, head of Kabul’s 10th district.
Some Kabul residents have expressed satisfaction with this move by the Islamic Emirate.
“Coal has been provided to us at the price of 6,500 Afs, which is very reasonable. We are satisfied because we were unable to purchase it from the open market until now,” said Sayed Qasim, a Kabul resident.
“We ask our government to adopt similar serious measures in other areas, such as food supplies, vegetables, and job creation, so that the needy can benefit during the winter,” stated Mohammad Kabir, another Kabul resident.
According to information from the Northern Coal Company, 120,000 tons of coal have been allocated for Kabul and 40,000 tons for neighboring provinces. The price of each ton of coal has been set at 6,500 afghani.
