The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced serious efforts to send skilled Afghan workers to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
The leader of the Islamic Emirate has instructed the acceleration of the process of sending skilled workers to these countries.
Samiullah Ebrahimi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, stated that to facilitate the legal deployment of Afghan workers to regional countries, a meeting was held among several interim government institutions.
"By sending workers abroad legally, thousands of Afghan workers will have job opportunities in these countries. The ministry is in contact with relevant officials in Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia to ensure proper working conditions for Afghan workers,” the spokesperson said.
Among the workers waiting with hope for employment is Ismail, a painter, who sometimes stares into the distance and sometimes arranges his brushes while dressed in his paint-stained clothes.
He said he is ready to do any physical work to provide for his family.
"Whatever work is available, we are ready to do it. We can serve and work hard," said Ismail, an Afghan worker.
Some workers, like Mohammad Zarif, spend their days waiting for work from morning until evening.
"We are unemployed. We come here in the morning, stay until evening, and then return home empty-handed. There is neither work nor support, and life is very difficult,” said Mohammad Zarif.
"We are ready to do any job, but job opportunities are very scarce. We are young and energetic, but there are no work opportunities for us, “said another worker, Rashad.
At the end of a recent meeting between the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and other interim government institutions, it was decided to draft a five-party memorandum of understanding between the Ministries of Labor and Social Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Interior, Public Health, and the National Statistics and Information Authority. This memorandum will focus on ensuring a safe and standard work environment for Afghan workers abroad.
