Land Along Qosh Tepa Canal Reserved for Major Development Projects

The National Development Corporation has announced that, based on a decree from the leader of the Islamic Emirate, one million acres of land along the Qosh Tepa Canal route will be allocated to the corporation.

According to the corporation, this land in the provinces of Balkh, Jawzjan, and Faryab will be used for constructing agricultural and industrial complexes.

Currently, the process of identifying government and private land along the Qosh Tepa Canal route is underway by the Land Administration Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock.

Misbahuddin Mustaeen, spokesperson for the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock, told TOLOnews: “This land requires significant efforts such as further research, soil analysis, purification, and registration. The work is ongoing, and we will collaborate with them jointly.”

The Ministry of Agriculture views the construction of agricultural complexes as a key step in modernizing agriculture, boosting exports, and creating job opportunities.

At present, the construction of the second phase and the dam head of the Qosh Tepa Canal is ongoing. The canal is referred to as the largest irrigation canal in the region and has raised significant hopes for Afghanistan's positive future development.

Mirwais Haji Zada, deputy of the agriculture and livestock chamber, said:
“Recently, following the order of Sheikh Sahib Amirul Muminin, agricultural complexes, processing, and packaging should be standardized. By doing this, we can transform an importing country into an exporting one.”

Mir Shakir Yaqoubi, an economic affairs expert, said: “Land is one of the fundamental needs of investors in Afghanistan. If this issue is resolved, there will be progress in the domestic industry, and more investment opportunities will be created in Afghanistan.”

According to statistics from the National Development Corporation, 81% of the excavation work for the second phase of the Qosh Tepa Canal has been completed, with 60 contracting companies working around the clock along the canal route.
