The National Statistics and Information Authority (NSIA) reported that over $ 7 million worth of hunting guns are imported into Afghanistan each year.

According to NSIA, these guns are imported into Afghanistan from Turkey, Russia, Italy, Slovakia, China, Iran and Pakistan.

The Ministry of Finance said that taxes are imposed on all imports of these guns.

“According to customs rules and tariff guidelines, 16 percent of the customs duty is imposed on these authorized guns,” said Shamroz Khan Masjidi, the ministry spokesman.

Latif Market in Kabul center is known as one of the largest hunting centers in the country. Dozens of hunting gun importers are located there, and each hunting guns sells for between $100 to over $1,000.

These guns are very similar to military guns that can fire bursts of up to ten bullets at a time.

Vendors at the center are not interested in talking to the media, and there is a steady stream of people coming here every day to buy these guns or related items.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce says companies holding licenses for export and import can import hunting guns into the country.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, there are currently more than 8,480 business licenses distributed in the country.

“Importing weapons and similar goods requires an accurate and transparent framework in order to take the national interest into account, in addition to the personal interest of traders,” said Iraj Faqeri, economic analyst.
