On Tuesday evening in Parwan as employees from Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) were repairing the pylon damaged from last night's missile attacks, explosives detonated in the area and killed the Parwan electricity operations deputy and wounded 4 others, including the Parwan chief of DABS, the company confirmed.

DABS said that pylons used to import electricity from regional countries have been targeted four times by unidentified groups within the last eight days.

On Monday night missiles were fired at the transmission towers in the Gul-Ghondi area in Charikar city of Parwan province, and earlier on Monday, four DABS employees were wounded in a blast as they returned from repairing a power pylon that is located in the Chimtala area in Kabul’s PD17, according to DABS.

That power pylon was damaged in an explosion on Sunday, but the electricity supply was unaffected as the damage was not too extensive.

Two of those wounded are in critical condition, DABS said in a statement.

According to DABS, the bomb was placed on the employees’ vehicle and was remotely detonated.

The incident comes days after another power pylon was destroyed in the north of Kabul in Mir Bacha Kot district. It took the company one week to repair, and it caused power shortages in the city.

No group has claimed responsibility for the past three attacks on the power’s pylons in outages in northern Kabul.

Breshna Company and citizens have called on the security ministries to make information public about the perpetrators and their motives.

The country’s power is mostly provided by imported electricity from Central Asian countries.
