FARAKHABAR: Prisoner Exchange, and Sirajuddin Haqqani’s Article

Sirajuddin Haqqani, the deputy leader of the Taliban, in a statement published by the New York Times on Thursday said that Afghans are tired of the war, and it must end.

Haqqani, in his statement, says that hopes for peace when the talks began with the US in 2018 was "almost zero" but since then there has been significant progress in the peace negotiations.

In related news, members of the Taliban office in Qatar said that the group and the US have agreed to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners from Afghan government prisons, and the Taliban will release 1,000 prisoners, before intra-Afghan talks begin.

But in response, a Presidential Palace spokesman said that release of Taliban prisoners during the Afghan talks will be one of the most important discussions, but it is not possible to release them before the talks.
