Afghanistan on Saturday held its third parliamentary elections in a decade. The elections were held after three years delay. Over 2500 candidates had filed nomination papers across the nation to run in the much-awaited elections. However, the electoral process saw some technical and security shortcomings, but overall the Afghan public saw the elections as a step forwards towards strengthening democracy.
