253 New Cases of COVID-19, 5 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported 253 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,334 samples tested in the last 24 hours.        

The Public Health Ministry also reported 5 deaths and 44 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.        

The new cases were reported Kabul (78), Herat (71), Kandahar (5), Balkh (11), Nangarhar (23), Kunduz (4), Badghis (4), Badakhshan (11), Ghazni (34), Ghor (2), Farah (6) and Zabul (4), provinces.   

The deaths were reported in Balkh (1), Nangarhar (1), Kunduz (1), Panjshir (1) and Zabul (1) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.      

The data by the ministry shows that the cumulative number of total cases is now 44,177, the number of total reported deaths is 1,650, and the total number of recoveries is 35,339.            

So far, 134,314 samples have been tested in the government centers and there are 7,188 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.            

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,350,326 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 56,300,193, according to Johns Hopkins University.
