Afghanistan: 219 New COVID-19 Cases, 21 Deaths Reported

The Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday reported 219 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,650 samples tested in the last 24 hours.    

The Public Health Ministry also reported 21 deaths and 119 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.  

The new cases were reported in Kabul (88), Herat (14), Kandahar (21), Balkh (19), Nangarhar (17), Parwan (10), Daikundi (7), Nimruz (6), Badghis (2), Maidan Wardak (6), Laghman (5), Ghor (3), Farah (1), Khost (7) and Samangan (3) provinces.  

The deaths were reported in Herat (8), Kabul (3), Kandahar (3), Balkh (2), Nangarhar (3), Khost (1) and Faryab (1) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.    

Data by the ministry shows that the cumulative total of cases is now 46,717, the cumulative total of reported deaths is 1,800, and the cumulative total of recoveries is 36,232.  

So far, 150,750 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 8,010 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.    

The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,469,096 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 63,294,405, according to Johns Hopkins University.
