The Ministry of Public Health on Saturday reported 84 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 1,003 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
The Public Health Ministry also reported 12 deaths and 300 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period.
The new cases were reported in Kabul (19), Kandahar (3), Balkh (4), Takhar (16), Baghlan (1), Baghlan (1), Bamiyan (1), Daikundi (7), Logar (4), Wardak (2), Panjshir (7), Paktika (1), Faryab (2), and Sar-e-Pul (16) provinces.
The deaths were reported in Kabul (3), Balkh (2), Paktia (1), Khost (2) and Farah (4) provinces, according to data provided by the Ministry of Public Health.
The Health Ministry stated that the cumulative total of known COVID-19 cases is 53,462, the total number of reported deaths is 2,279, and the total number of recoveries is 43,740.
So far, 213,207 samples have been tested in government centers and there are 8,914 known active COVID-19 cases in the country, data by the ministry indicates.
The number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 1,915,006 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 88,952,431, according to Johns Hopkins University.
