The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) has announced that, in collaboration with a team of Bangladeshi doctors, patients with cleft lip and palate conditions will be treated in Kabul.
According to officials, this operation will continue until December 5.
“They plan to operate on 150 patients. These doctors will stay until December 5, and we have proposed further collaboration in the future because many children in our country suffer from this condition,” said Abdul Latif Sabet, Secretary General and Deputy Operational Officer of the Central Red Crescent Hospital.
The head of the Bangladeshi medical center pledged their continued cooperation in Afghanistan.
“We are here in Afghanistan. We want to conduct similar programs in other areas and ensure everything is provided for free. We also have additional plans,” said Hamza Shaheedul Islam, the head of the Bangladeshi medical center.
Some caregivers expressed their happiness over the free treatment of their patients and urged officials to provide more support in the healthcare sector.
“I am very happy to have come here and for my grandchild to receive surgery and be healed. We ask the Islamic Emirate to carry out such good and virtuous actions because the people of Afghanistan need such services,” said Mohammad Naseem, one of the patients' companions.
“We are very happy with this initiative as our children are receiving treatment,” said another caregiver, Ghairat.
Officials from the Afghan Red Crescent Society mentioned that patients from all 34 provinces of Afghanistan will be treated by the Bangladeshi medical team.
