Ministry: Four New Drug Rehabilitation Centers Established

Abdul Wali Haqqani, Administrative Deputy Minister of Public Health, stated at an in Kabul that the ministry has taken significant steps to treat drug addicts in the country.

The program, organized by the Ministry of Public Health, aims at having the capacity of treating 150 drug addicts.

Abdul Wali Haqqani said: "It disrupts human senses and ultimately causes mental and physical harm. Those who become addicted cannot work normally within society and cannot fulfill their roles."

Wahdat Alokozai, head of Therapeutic Medicine at the Ministry of Public Health, also announced the establishment of four new centers for treating drug addicts.

The head of Therapeutic Medicine said: "Fortunately, over the past two or three months, we have witnessed the construction of four new centers. It is our promise to expand these centers until all our addicted compatriots have access to treatment facilities."

Mohammad Tahir Haleem, the head of the Acting Minister's Office, who attended the program, stated: "When people neglect themselves, the problem grows day by day. Every sin brings another, and every crime leads to more crimes. If a crime is not called a crime, it will increase."

At the same time, rehabilitated addicts are calling on the caretaker government to provide them with job opportunities.

"My request is for the government to provide me with job opportunities so that I don’t fall into drug addiction again," said Faqir, a rehabilitated individual.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health, there are currently 66 drug rehabilitation centers in the country.
