A recovered drug addict in Ghazni province has established a treatment center to help other addicts recover.
Nawroz, the director of the private addiction treatment center, stated that he uses his own experiences to treat individuals struggling with drug addiction.
On the other hand, some individuals undergoing treatment have expressed their desire to return to a normal life after recovery.
Qader, a patient undergoing treatment, said: "Addiction is not something that can be cured with medicine given to you by someone else. A person must have patience and endurance. If someone wants to quit drugs, they must believe they can do it."
Rahimullah, another patient undergoing treatment, said: "I even went to Peshawar and Islamabad, but I was not cured. However, by the grace of God, I recovered here. Now I have very positive thoughts and I believe I can do anything, whether it’s staying in Karachi or pursuing other opportunities."
Esmatullah Maroof, 52, who completed his treatment at the center, is now engaged in helping other addicts recover.
He stated that returning to normal life was one of his dreams.
Esmatullah Maroof, a recovered addict, said: "I always dreamed of becoming a prosecutor or a good judge, but unfortunately, drugs took those opportunities away from me, even though I had them. I had a law office in Ghazni city, but drugs took it all away from me."
The director of the treatment center has urged the interim government and aid organizations to support him in providing treatment for those addicts who cannot afford the costs due to financial difficulties.
