Officials at the Mirwais Regional Hospital in Kandahar say that, in addition to beginning the construction of an oxygen production plant, five new departments have been inaugurated at the hospital.
They also reported that over the past month, 41,000 patients from eleven provinces have received treatment at the hospital.
Abdul Qayum Ayubi, the chief physician at Mirwais Regional Hospital, told TOLOnews: “We have activated the laparoscopy, ultrasound, echocardiography, and endoscopy departments, and we resolved the issues in the medicine storage section.”
Munawar Ahmad Munawar, the head of the Kandahar Regional Hospital, said: “Last month, 41,000 patients were registered and treated across various departments of Mirwais Hospital.”
Currently, the hospital provides health services to patients in 11 units and 34 departments.
Meanwhile, a number of patients said that the medical facilities at the hospital have improved compared to the past.
Rahmatullah Rahmati, a resident of Kandahar, told TOLOnews: “The hospital has now expanded. In the past, its services were not very good, but now it operates at about seventy percent satisfactory level, and we hope it will improve even more.”
Abdul Qadeer, a resident of Uruzgan who came to Kandahar, said: “My father has a heart disease and is hospitalized here. I am satisfied with the hospital services.”
Officials at Mirwais Regional Hospital in Kandahar added that efforts are also being accelerated to increase the capacity of the hospital’s medical staff.
