556 New Positive Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Afghanistan

The Ministry of Public Health on Saturday reported 556 new positive cases of the coronavirus out of 1,045 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total accumulated cases to 24,101.

The ministry also reported five new deaths from COVID-19 and 273 recovered cases in the last 24 hours.

The numbers are surging as the country is faced with a lack of testing capacity, treatment equipment and health facilities to treat COVID-1 patients, especially oxygen.

According to data by Public Health Ministry, Kabul once again was on top of the list with 253 cases followed by Balkh (74), Nangarhar (43), Takhar (28), Kandahar (23), Bamiyan (23), Baghlan (22), Wardak (20), Kunar (17), Logar (12), Zabul (9), Ghazni (8), Nimroz (8), Daikundi (6), Helmand (5), Laghman (3), and Uruzgan (2).
The deaths were reported in Kabul (3) and Nangarhar (2). The total COVID-19 deaths in the country are 451 and the total recovered cases stand at 4,201.

So far, 54,770 samples have been tested and there are 19,450 active cases, according to the data by the Ministry of Public Health.
