The reported positive cases of the coronavirus reached 521 on Friday, according to the Public Health Ministry, as 37 people tested positive for the virus in last 24 hours.
The new cases include 16 in Kabul, 8 in Herat, 2 in Kandahar, 2 in Logar, 2 in Daikundi, 2 in Takhar, 1 in Bamiyan and 1 in Parwan.
Herat, which shares a large border with Iran, has the highest number of positive coronavirus cases in the country.
Amid the outbreak of the pandemic, many big cities in Afghanistan, including Kabul and Herat, have been under lockdown for the last two weeks and there is the possibility that the government will extend the lockdown period.
The Ministry of Public Health has said that the testing capacity for the coronavirus is up to 1,000 a day. There are two testing centers in Kabul, one in Balkh, one in Herat and one in Kandahar.
So far, 32 COVID-19 patients have recovered and 15 people have died of the coronavirus.
